Keep your makeup brushes clean

Proper care & hygiene is very important to keep your makeup brushes in good shape and prevent bacteria growth. Especially for mineral makeup users who use kabuki/flat top brush regularly to buff foundation. Brushes pick up the cosmetic pigments, oils from our skin, dust and bacteria, and if they are not cleaned regularly, these dirt and bacteria build-up on the brushes can cause nasty breakouts.

Tips to keep your brushes clean & longer-lasting:

  1. Clean brush when it’s first purchased.
  2. Wash your brushes once a week. More often for eye shadow & eye liner brushes, since these are in close contact with your eyes.
  3. Gently wash makeup brush with warm water and mild soap or brush cleaner. Using a harsh soap will dry out the bristles especially if it is made up of animal hair.
  4. Rinse your brush with the brush bristles facing downwards so as to avoid water seeping into the aluminum ferrule. This is the part that holds the brush bristles together, and if there is constant contact with water, it will loosen its hold, causing brush hair to shed.
  5. Reshape brushes and lay them on a flat surface to air dry, or you can use our brush guards to protect the brushes and dry them in a glass with the brush bristles facing downwards. This way, the water will not seep into the brush ferrule, while the brush guards keep the brushes in shape.
